The Ontario Association of Career Management (OACM) is a not-for-profit association dedicated to advancing the knowledge, service delivery, and the livelihood of career management professionals across Ontario.
We are currently seeking a qualified candidate to join the Board of Directors in the position of Secretary. Interested candidates should be passionate about supporting the OACM and its continued growth and success, as well as about good governance, records management, organizational development and professional advocacy.

We are currently seeking a qualified candidate to join the Board of Directors in the position of Secretary. Duties of the Position:
- Takes Minutes for each Board meeting and Annual General Meeting and distributes appropriately to Director and/or Members
- Maintains copies in digital format or hard copy of all Minutes and formal records of the association, other than records specific to the Chair or Treasurer
- Submits updates of all name changes in Officer roles (Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer) to Ministry of Government Services following each AGM and when other changes occur in these roles.
- Renews Directors’ & Officers’ Liability Insurance policy each spring
- Renews membership with Volunteer Canada each spring
- Advocates on behalf of career certification as an association benefit with the Institute of Career Certification International
- Advises on association governance issues
Qualifications
- Knowledge of and support for the mission and purpose of OACM
- Familiarity with board governance structures in the non-profit sector
- Experienced with minute taking and management of the office
- Is sufficiently familiar with legal documents (articles, by-laws, CRA letters, etc.) to note applicability during meetings
- Demonstrated ability and commitment to work as a team member
Responsibilities
- Become a fully paid Member of the association
- Be available to serve a minimum of a 2-year term with eligibility for reappointment for successive terms
- Attend 6-8 board meetings per year (in-person or virtual) plus the Annual General Meeting
- Join at least one (1) board committee and attend meetings as required
- Register for and attend OACM events as often as possible
- Volunteer to assist with the organization and logistics of OACM Professional Development events and other initiatives designed to strengthen the association
