A Special Message ...
The OACM Board of Directors extends our best wishes, and hope this message finds you, your family members, friends and colleagues all safe and healthy.
The news about the spread and risks of Covid-19, and responses by government, businesses and institutions has escalated very quickly over the last 7 days. Responses are going to continue to evolve rapidly, and it is unclear at this point how long ‘business as usual’ activities will continue to be disrupted over the coming weeks and months. We want to take a moment to share an update from OACM.
We are pressing “pause” on any in-person networking and professional development activities.
To keep our Members, friends and their families safe, we have ceased the planning of any upcoming in-person professional development events, including our annual “What Employers Want” joint event with our partners at CDPCBO. We will look to resume these in-person gatherings when our governments and health care leaders advise it is safe to do so.
We will continue with our virtual networking activities.
Our very successful monthly Member Connections Calls will continue and will provide you with an ongoing opportunity to share and connect with OACM Members on topics of interest. Details and the registration link for our April call: Click Here.
Partner virtual events
We are happy to share information on virtual events from our strategic partners at CERIC, and Career Professionals of Canada. Please refer to information and registration from our Virtual Events Page. Our great #careerpro partners are also committed to helping you through this time.
Other thoughts
At the risk of overstating the obvious, these are unprecedented times. As career practitioners, we are in a helping profession. This means in addition to any sense of uncertainty and stress we feel ourselves, we are helping our clients, and for some our employees, deal with disruption, uncertainty and anxiety about shifting work conditions, and the current precariousness of employment and job search. As a community, let’s stay together, support each other, and make sure we are all taking time for our own self care.
Best wishes to all of you.
